The new star on the block shares her journey and future plans.
The new star on the block shares her journey and future plans.

When Star Magic unveiled their latest batch of talents last year, fans were on their toes for new stars to adore, and among the unique mix of fresh faces stood a pristine beauty with an affable charm who we know as CHANTAL VIDELA. Standing at 5’5”, the Filipino-Argentinian sweetheart was always destined for the spotlight—although her path towards stardom was never handed to her. This budding star really did stick it out to get to where she is now, enduring the long lines of one audition after another until she eventually got her big break.

I really love being an artist of Star Magic and yung highlight ko is having the chance to work with veteran actors. Pag nagkakaroon ako ng scene with them, napakasaya ko po, parang achievement talaga.

From starting out as a young model at the age of 10 to bagging her first commercial when she was 13, joining Star Magic has been Chantal’s greatest challenge yet. It has certainly paid off as she took on her biggest role to date for Spirits Reawaken, iWant’s rebooted version of the iconic 2004 fantaserye Spirits which was launched late last year. Portraying the part of Gabbie, the breakout character played by Maja Salvador in the original series, Chantal managed to reinvent the role in her own way without straying too much from the original material.  Even though she admits to revel in underdog roles, she’s lining up new projects where she can show different sides of her acting chops.

Since making the rounds as one of the faces of Star Magic Circle 2018, Chantal has been likened to Liza Soberano, which she humbly takes as a huge compliment. While she aims to follow the footsteps of her idol, Chantal Videla is poised to to lead the next generation of stars—and it won’t be long before everybody knows her name. Read on as this rising beauty talks about her Star Magic experience, movie idols, and beauty essentials.

How has the Star Magic experience been for you so far?

I really love being an artist of Star Magic and yung highlight ko is having the chance to work with veteran actors. Pag nagkakaroon ako ng scene with them, napakasaya ko po, parang achievement talaga.

There have been a lot of features touting you as the next Liza Soberano. How do you feel about the comparison?

I’m thankful that they see me as someone like her—like a big star. Pero syempre, alam ko sa sarili ko na marami pa akong dapat i-improve, and si Ate Liza, “Liza” na siya, no one can be like her.

Who else are your movie idols?

When it comes to films or TV shows, what are your favorites ones that inspired you to go into acting?

Four Sisters and a Wedding with Ms. Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, and Angel Locsin. Yung confrontation scene nila, wow—kahit ilang beses ko panoorin maiiyak pa din ako. Nung nakita ko yung acting nila, parang na-inspire ako to learn more about acting.

Any dream project you have in mind?

Gusto ko maka-work, if given the chance, mga veteran actors or kahit si Ate Liza po. But if we’re talking about dream roles, mga superhero or a mermaid fairytale.

With a busy schedule like yours, what’s something you do for fun?

I hang out with my family, lumalabas kami. We eat outside, we travel, like recently, nag-Vigan kami.

You started out young as a commercial model. Can you tell us how you ended up doing ads?

I’m thankful that they see me as someone like her—like a big star. Pero syempre, alam ko sa sarili ko na marami pa akong dapat i-improve, and si Ate Liza, “Liza” na siya, no one can be like her.

As a model, you’re always wearing different kinds of looks, but how would you describe your personal style?

I just wear a regular t-shirt, jeans, and jacket.

Your skin has a naturally radiant glow. Can you spill your skincare secrets?

I can’t sleep without washing my face, lalo na kapag may makeup, or kahit walang makeup, I always wash my face before sleeping. Also, water therapy and fruits!

Speaking of beauty, what are three beauty products you can’t live without?

Lipstick, mascara, and powder.

Never stop trying. If you work hard and you never stop trying, ibibigay sayo  ni Lord yan kasi nakikita niya na nag-eeffort ka.

What’s your favorite lip shade?

More on light-colored shades like nudes, pinks, or sorta brown.

From the red carpet to commercial shoots, what would you say is your favorite makeup look?

Yung glam—yung mukhang Barbie doll, mga ganun pong level [laughs].

Any memorable event that you felt that you were at your prettiest?

ABS-CBN Ball! Yun yung first time ko mag-ball, and I felt like a princess kasi ang laki ng gown ko [laughs].

As a young actress, a lot of young people are looking up to you. What advice can you share with them about pursuing their dreams?

Never stop trying. If you work hard and you never stop trying, ibibigay sayo  ni Lord yan kasi nakikita niya na nag-eeffort ka.
